The CCNS staff strives to include the following objectives into each day’s activities:
- To meet the needs and desires of children, parents, and staff
- To provide a loving, caring, and safe atmosphere that will include many opportunities for development of self-esteem, social competence, and intellectual growth
- To establish an understanding and respect of the rights of others as well as self
- To provide many opportunities for increased verbalization
- To enhance the curriculum areas of art, science, math, language, music and movement, dramatic play, large and small motor development, and health and safety
- To set up an environment that is user friendly: Children can get their own equipment, supplies are at eye level, storage places are clearly marked, classrooms are print-rich and equipment is developmentally appropriate, an attitude of self help is encouraged by the staff
- To make children aware of their environment through field trips, visitors, and books
- To have a whole language curriculum that includes theme weeks
- To have a system to evaluate the program by the staff and the parents on a yearly basis
